Are there any glazing rules or regulations that apply to vans converted for use as commercial transport (taxi, airport runs etc)?

You can re-register your van, with the DVLA, as a camper/minibus etc thus increasing the uk speed limit from 60-70 mph on ‘A’ roads for vehicles over 2.5 ton. However, If you are converting your panel van into a mini-bus or taxi, the window glass cannot be tinted more than 30%.

What types of windows can we supply?

We are able to supply fixed or sliding windows. The sliding windows can be supplied in two guises – where the opener is flush with the window or where the opener is offset to the window. All of our windows are high quality, with very secure locking features.

We can supply clear, green or pro ace glass, in a range of tints to meet your requirements (not exceeding 30% tints for mini-buses or taxi’s).


What is the installation process and how long does installation take?

The panels within the van, which are going to be converted to windows, are cut using a ‘nibbler’ which leaves no sharp edges. These edges are then coated using a rust inhibiting primer and most edges are then covered with an industrial edge trim.

The installation process take approximately 30 minutes per window. Once the work has been completed the van can not be driven for a further two hours, insuring that the adhesive cures correctly, providing a tight, waterproof seal.

What is the lead time for the the new windows?

As long as the supplier has the required glass in stock, we can usually perform the installation within 3 days.
